For this pattern you will be working in the round, knitting the front side and back side of your cowl at the same time in a technique called double knitting. This creates a smooth stockinette fabric on both sides, with reversed images on either side. Written instructions include how to read and work the chart and a brief introduction to double knitting. This is a great project for high contrasting colors. The double layered fabric makes for a warm, sturdy cowl that stands up to block the wind and keeps you nice and toasty. Gauge and yardage were calculated for DK weight yarn, but other weights could be substituted and modified.
